Board member/Trustee

At The Acorn Project, we support young people and their families living with cancer in Hawkes Bay.  Over the last year we have seen an increase in the number of people reaching out to us for help, and we are growing our team to ensure their needs are met.

Our Board of Trustees provides guidance and advice to our registered charity, as we continue to grow our support and services.  The role of Trustee combines an oversight on governance and providing operational support to our small team.  Our priority is to ensure the sustainability of The Acorn Project for the current and future generations.

We are seeking a new Trustee to join our current Board, who shares our passion for supporting young people.  This opportunity will appeal to you if you are interested in;

  • Playing an active role on the Board, either as the Chairman or Secretary.

  • Building relationships with business leaders, and organisations who believe in what we do and who see the value in partnering with us.

  • Raising the profile of an organisation that is doing good work, supporting people in their time of need in the Hawkes Bay.

The type of person we are looking for (is):

You will need to;

  • Bring your governance skills.  Experience of the not-for-profit sector will hold you in good stead.  Existing relationships with local business leaders to assist raising our profile locally and nationally is also advantageous.

  • Focus on the long term.  Your ability to think ahead and create the infrastructure to ensure The Acorn Project endures, will prove invaluable.

  • Be able to attend bi-monthly Board Meetings – and to provide a lending hand as and when required. The role of Trustee is hands on, joining our volunteer community to assist at fundraising and other events.
