Help shape the future of disability sport and active recreation in Hawke’s Bay
Disability Sport & Recreation Hawke’s Bay (DSRHB) is seeking new Committee members to contribute to the governance, leadership and future direction of the organisation.
Our purpose is to enhance the lives of disabled people through sport and active recreation, and our Committee plays an important role in ensuring we are well governed, financially sustainable and focused on making a meaningful difference in our community.
About the opportunity
We are looking for people who are interested in contributing their skills, experience and perspective to our Committee.
We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience or skills in:
- Governance and strategic leadership
- Accounting or financial knowledge
- Cultural knowledge and perspective
- Leadership, including an interest in taking on the Deputy Chair role
We are also interested in hearing from people who may not have previous governance experience but would like the opportunity to develop their skills and experience in this area.
You don’t need to have a particular professional background or previous committee experience. We value people who are collaborative, thoughtful, willing to contribute and committed to the purpose of DSRHB.
What does being on the committee involve
Committee members contribute to the governance and strategic direction of DSRHB rather than the day-to-day running of the organisation.
This includes:
- Attending and contributing to regular Committee meetings
- Providing oversight of organisational strategy, finances and risk
- Supporting good governance and accountability
- Contributing skills, knowledge and different perspectives
- Supporting the organisation to achieve its purpose and strategic goals
- Representing and advocating for disability sport and active recreation in our community
Time committment
Committee meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7.15pm via Google Meets.
Committee members are also expected to attend the annual strategic planning session and Annual General Meeting, and may be asked to contribute additional time to support DSRHB events and activities throughout the year.
Committee members are appointed for an initial two-year term, with the opportunity to continue by mutual agreement.
Nominations are currently open

Are committed to inclusion and the wellbeing of our community
-
Are collaborative, thoughtful and willing to contribute
-
Bring skills, knowledge, experience or perspectives that can strengthen our Committee
-
Are interested in good governance and the future direction of DSRHB
-
Share our commitment to enhancing the lives of disabled people through sport and active recreation

Why get involved?

It is also a valuable opportunity to develop governance, leadership and strategic skills, build your experience and contribute your knowledge and perspective to the future direction of the organisation.
