Radio Hawke's Bay is seeking enthusiastic Community Reporters to be the voice of their neighbourhood. As a Community Reporter, you’ll not only review and curate content like our Moderators but also originate your own stories and reports based on what’s happening in your local area. You’ll be our eyes and ears in the community, contributing valuable insights that keep our audience informed. Key Responsibilities:
● Report on hyperlocal events and everyday occurrences, such as traffic jams, public gatherings, weather impacts and other issues of interest. ○ Example: You might use the Radio Hawke’s Bay app to make an audio report if you’re caught in a traffic jam, or if you notice flooding in a low-lying area.
● Collaborate closely with the Moderators by following the editorial policy when submitting content.
● Play a key role in the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS), reporting real-time conditions during Civil Defence emergencies.
● Work with designated Community Emergency Hubs to report on local issues that matter most to your community.
● Participate in a flexible roster that covers both daily updates and emergency situations.
: Full training will be provided, including how to use the Radio Hawke’s Bay app for capturing and submitting reports. You’ll receive ongoing support from professional media editors who will guide you in adhering to our editorial standards.
Strong connection to your local community and awareness of local issues.
● Ability to spot stories of interest that will inform and engage the wider community.
● Adherence to Radio Hawke’s Bay’s editorial policy for accurate and responsible reporting.
● Reliable internet access and comfort with using digital tools for audio and text reporting.
