Red Cross Curtain Bank provide curtains to those homes in our community that helps families to stay warm and healthy in winter, reduce energy wastage and reduce energy costs; receives donations of curtains, repairs and lines them and then distributes them free to people in need.
We are swamped and need volunteers that can either:
Sort & label items – Key tasks include measuring, cutting, pining, labelling, folding and organising linings – No sewing required!
or
sew- help by creating curtains and drapes to provide warmth and privacy. Key tasks include sorting, measuring, unlocking, hemming, pressing, pinning and sewing using our machines.
Must be fit and able to lift rolls of material.
Be able to work efficiently in teams of two & be on your feet for around 3 hours.
Has patient, is non-judgemental and a team player. Fun team environment
The time commitment will be negotiated with you when you apply for the role. Weekly rosters are created by the Volunteer Coordinator. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Reliable and able to work in a fun and busy environment.
