A visit to the Emergency Department can be stressful, uncertain, and sometimes overwhelming. As a Friends of Emergency Department Volunteer, you'll provide a warm welcome, reassurance, and practical support to patients and whānau during what can be a difficult time.
This rewarding role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, has a calm and caring nature, and wants to make a meaningful difference in their community.
In this role you can,
• Offer companionship, reassurance, and practical support to patients and visitors.
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment within the Emergency Department.
• Work collaboratively with hospital staff and fellow volunteers.
• Build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrate respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi and apply its principles in your interactions.
• Contribute to a team dedicated to improving the patient and whānau experience.
