Help Connect People with Purpose
Are you someone who enjoys helping others, building relationships, and making a real difference in your community?
Volunteering Hawke's Bay is looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our team at The Hive in Hastings. Every day, we help connect people with meaningful volunteer opportunities and support community organisations to find the volunteers they need. As part of our team, you'll be at the heart of making those connections happen.
Whether you're retired, returning to the workforce, looking to gain new skills, or simply wanting to give back, this is a rewarding opportunity to be part of something bigger.
Help us create positive experiences for volunteers and community organisations by:
- Answering phone and email enquiries
- Welcoming and supporting prospective volunteers
- Updating information in our database
- Assisting with administration and community engagement activities
- Helping maintain strong connections across the Hawke's Bay community
No need to know everything from day one. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
We ask for one shift per week (approximately 3 hours), based at our friendly office at The Hive, Hastings. We'll give you opportunities to learn new skills and build confidence and be a part of our supportive and passionate team
Bonus Opportunity: Emergency Volunteering
Interested in supporting your community during times of need? Volunteers can also choose to train as part of our Emergency Volunteering Programme, working alongside lead agencies such as Civil Defence when emergencies occur.
Why Volunteer with Us?
At Volunteering Hawke's Bay, you'll do more than answer phones or update records. You'll help people find purpose, support organisations making a difference, and strengthen communities across our region.
Every conversation, every connection, and every hour you give helps create a more connected Hawke's Bay.
Ready to make a difference? We'd love to welcome you to the team.
We'd love to hear from people who are:
Friendly, caring, and approachable
Reliable and committed
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Confident communicating with a wide range of people
Organised and willing to learn new systems

Experience in administration, customer service, reception, or call centre environments is helpful, but not essential.
