Maia Wai - Water Confidence Programme - Volunteer Support Roles

Are you a warm and welcoming person who loves to connect with others and lend a helping hand? Join our Whānau Āwhina Plunket team of Volunteers as a key support person for our Maia Wai Programme for our Under 5’s and become an integral part of our supportive Community Services team.  

As one of our under 5’s water confidence support people, you'll be the friendly, welcoming face greeting whānau as they arrive at the pool, where they will come together with a qualified swimming instructor to provide a fun and informative sessions around water confidence and safety for under 5’s. 

From being at the pool to greet parents with a friendly smile, your presence and support will make every parent feel safe, secure and comfortable to attend the 10-week programme.  You will be there to hold a baby, grab a towel or do whatever is needed to help make the session an enjoyable and happy experience for everyone.

  • A genuine passion for supporting parents and caregivers, fuelled by an understanding of the joys and challenges of early parenthood.  

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills that radiate empathy, kindness, and understanding.  

  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every parent feels valued, respected, and supported.  

  • Reliability and punctuality are key to ensuring smooth and seamless support for our community of parents and caregivers.
