The Napier Sea Cadets unit needs motivated, committed adults to take on leadership roles to training young people aged 13 to 20 years old.
This is a voluntary and unpaid position, but the officers hold rank and wear a uniform virtually identical to that of the Royal New Zealand Navy.
You will have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in sport and recreation management, adult education, and maritime safety and boating.
We require people who can pass a NZ Defence Force security clearance and NZ Police check to work with young people under the age of 18.
New officers will be role models and subscribe to Cadet Forces' core values of courage, comradeship, commitment and integrity.
Military or Cadet experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
Boating knowledge is useful, but you will be taught everything you need to know to get out on the water, sailing or in a power boat.
You will also be taught instructional technique and training management, the skills to lead Cadets safely in outdoor activities, and to fill the role of a qualified shooting coach.
The minimum age to apply for an NZCF commission is 21.
