Seeking interested volunteers for a new initiative of Fire and Emergency in Hawke's Bay - Wairoa, Nuhaka, to Dannevirke and Eketahuna.
Fire and Emergency Hawke’s Bay are developing a support programme for those recovering from fire and other related incidents they respond to.
Often families and individuals are left without support from families and friends, and nowhere to go due to financial losses and the emotional trauma they have to deal with at the time.
Responding with an empathetic approach, a listening ear and offering practical advice, is required to support these people at a time of crisis. This is offered 24/7 to help them begin their journey to recovery.
In return we offer support and a safe caring environment to work in, supervision, and ongoing training.
By working alongside our team of Fire Fighters when our community is affected by crises, will allow you to make a difference in the lives of others.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Fire and Emergency Services sector, able to offer practical advice and show compassion and empathy, listen well are non-judgmental, and are confident working with people who experience trauma, we would love to hear from you.
You must have your own phone and vehicle as crisis call-outs require an immediate response.
A long-term commitment of at least 1 year is required due to the ongoing training provided.
This role would suit anyone over 18 years with life skills and time available, is reliable, honest and trustworthy.
