Step back in time and help bring one of Napier’s most treasured historic landmarks to life.
The Old Custom House — built in 1895 and lovingly maintained by a dedicated community trust — welcomes visitors from home and abroad, year‑round. We play an important role in preserving Ahuriri’s rich maritime history and we’re currently looking for friendly, community‑minded volunteers to join our small team.
The role involves:
Greeting visitors and sharing the history of the building
Helping open and close the museum
Assisting with displays and light admin
Supporting community events and open days
