Napier Arts Club is looking for a Treasurer to join our creative whānau! Whether you enjoy being hands-on behind the scenes or simply want to support a vibrant local arts community, this role could be a wonderful fit. You don’t have to be a member of the club for this role.
Our Treasurer is an important part of keeping the club running smoothly. You won’t be on your own—we offer plenty of support, guidance, the outgoing Treasurer will be part of the handover process, and our friendly, supportive team will help you settle in. If you’d like to contribute your skills to a well-organised and welcoming arts club, we would love to have you on board.
Our Treasurer will help us with:
Financial Management
• Keep track of income and expenses.
• Maintain the club’s financial records in Excel.
• Make sure invoices are paid on time.
• Issue receipts when needed.
Reporting
• Prepare simple monthly or quarterly financial updates
for the committee.
• Produce an annual financial report for the AGM.
• Explain the committee understand the club’s financial
position in everyday language.
Budgeting & Planning
Work with the committee to set budgets for:
• Workshops
• Exhibitions
• Events
• Maintenance or equipment purchases
Provide advice on whether the club can afford certain projects or improvements.
Membership & Banking
• Managing membership payments and records.
• Oversee the club’s bank accounts.
• Reconcile bank statements in Excel.
Compliance & Administration
• Ensure the club meets all financial obligations
e.g. annual returns.
• Keep orderly records for transparency and easy handover.
Supporting the Committee
Attend meetings, once a month for around 2.5 hours.
• Offer financial guidance when decisions are being made.
• Work collaboratively with the Chair, Secretary,
and other volunteers.
Skills
• Comfortable with basic numbers and record keeping.
• Willing to learn Excel and Internet Banking
(if not already familiar).
• Honest, organised, and reliable.
• Enjoys supporting a creative, community focused group.
