About the role
The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the Committee’s financial matters, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and sound financial management.
This is a governance-focused role that supports informed decision-making and long-term sustainability. The Treasurer works closely with the Committee and Team Lead, while maintaining appropriate governance boundaries.
Key responsibilities
- Present timely and accurate financial reports at each Committee meeting
- Interpret financial information to support good decision-making
- Act as a signing authority for financial matters
- Ensure annual financial statements are prepared and presented
- Work with the Team Lead to develop and monitor budgets
- Provide advice on financial planning and sustainability
- Support the development of strong financial systems and accountability
Financial oversight
- Prepare and track the organisation’s budget
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Ensure all income and payments are clearly recorded
- Provide financial reports that are easy to understand
- Ensure funds are appropriately managed, banked, and documented
- Produce an annual financial report
Compliance and governance
- Support compliance with financial policies and relevant regulations
- Co-sign funding applications where required
- Review and ensure the financial policy framework remains fit for purpose
- Assist with maintaining accurate organisational records where needed
Skills and experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience or confidence in accounting and financial management
- Is well organised and detail-focused
- Can commit regular time to maintaining financial oversight
- Keeps clear and accurate records
- Works in a logical and structured way
- Understands the requirements for annual financial reporting
Time commitment and term
- Approximately 4 hours per month
- Initial term of 2 years, with the option to extend by mutual agreement
