We urgently need helpline volunteers to work from home and ensure no one ever feels alone when dealing with life’s challenges.
For more than 50 years, the Samaritans non-religious 24/7 helpline has supported the community, answering over 6,500 calls each year in our region. 60% of callers have poor mental health, 71% suffer from loneliness and 3% are in crisis.
We are a listening service and provide empathy, support and connection with every call. This can mean life and death for some, for others, it’s a friendly voice when life becomes lonely. That’s what makes us different – we don’t restrict support to specific groups or issues, making it inclusive and accessible to all.
Talking changes outcomes. We help callers confidently tackle challenges, safely resolve conflict and react positively to change. When given the right support and empowerment, people discover their strengths, find solutions and turn their lives around.
