Community & Social Support Volunteers

We are looking for people who are empathetic and good listeners, and can volunteer for 2-4 hours/per week or fortnight to provide community and social support for ex-prisoners and their whanau in Hastings and/or Napier.  

You will work alongside another PARS volunteer and provide social support for ex-prisoners experiencing isolation.

We would love to hear from you if you have some, or all, of the following attributes: 

  • Empathetic, open-minded and accepting 

  • A good listener 

  • Calm under pressure 

  • Able to adhere to boundaries 

  • Flexibility 

  • Knowledge of the Hawke’s Bay community services and facilities 

  • Have previously worked in social services, or have experienced the criminal justice system, either personally or alongside whanau 

  • Able to complete basic documentation of your work  

Vetting is required but previous convictions can be discussed.
