Conservation Work at Blowhard Bush Reserve

Join us to help keep Blowhard Bush Reserve one of Hawke's Bay's conservation jewels.

The team currently do pest control on a monthly basis, with some flexibility of the day during the week that suits your diary.

We do encourage volunteers to come monthly or at least on alternate months to give the best chance of learning what is involved. 

Leave town approx 8am, return approx 3:30 - 4.00pm. Transport provided.

Tasks may vary on a seasonal basis. Occasional one-off extra days may be held to focus on other areas such as monitoring, track maintenance, and planting.

BYO lunch.

We work in pairs or small groups to do what needs doing.

Training given on trap and bait station maintenance.

Rainwear, warm clothing, strong footwear such as boots and any garden tools you have that will contribute to our project.

The type of person we are looking for (is): 

Good fitness suited to bush tracks over varying terrains, a love of our unique native bush environment, and wanting to help to preserve our native plants and animals.
