About Us...
Pānui Mai | "Read to Me" purpose is to inspire a passion for reading in tamariki, particularly primary age children.
Volunteers will provide additional support to tamariki who need additional help with their reading.
After completing a successful pilot programme with five partner primary schools in Hastings in 2023, Pānui Mai are excited about spreading the programme further in 2024 to more schools and more children.
About the role...
As a Reading Support Volunteer you will support primary age children to develop a love for reading and improve their reading skills.
Key responsibilities will include -

Supporting tamariki to develop a love of reading by providing at least 30 mins, but ideally one hour per week during school hours

Creating a safe and supportive learning environment for learners

Encouraging and promoting a love for reading through various activities such as book discussions, storytelling, and book clubs

Collaborating with the programme coordinator and other volunteers to develop and implement effective reading programmes

Attending programme meetings and training sessions as required
Time Commitment: Volunteers are required to commit to at least 1 hour per week during school hours for the duration of the programme.
The 2024 Pānui Mai programme will run in Terms 2 and 3, starting 29th April - 27th September 2024. If you can't commit to every single week, but could do most weeks please do apply.
