Predator Control - Bring Bird Song to Mataruahou

Would you like to be a part of a Napier Hill Pest Trapping Community Group?  Are you passionate about bring bird song to our community and looking to connect with your community? 

Predator Free Napier Hill is gaining momentum, and we want to do more. We are looking for locals with an hour per week that can help with admin, trapping, overseeing our Duke of Ed student volunteer programme, helping other trappers

Also, Predator Free Napier Hill and Taradale are also keen to encourage other Napier suburbs to start a group – we are here to help. You won't be doing it alone. With the support of Napier City Council - Predator Free Taradale and Predator Free Napier Hill are fully backing this startup with our established resources, guidance, and expertise. This is a chance to learn as you go, but ultimately make the project your own and shape it to fit your community. Get in touch if keen to find out more 

Roles We Are Looking For Napier Hill

Whether you have a spare hour a week or specialized skills to share, there is a place for everyone:

  • Manage our student trappers (6) Maybe great for ex teachers or some one keen to work with teenagers. Admin role, training new students, about 1 hr a month
  • Odd jobs volunteer: replace some traps, put up signs, top up our community hubs with peanut butter. There are always a few jobs to do. Approx 1 hr per month
  •  Trappers: Set and monitor traps on the ground (low time commitment, perfect for beginners).
  • Backyard trapper support technician: Suitable for an experienced trapper who would like to share their knowledge with new family trappers. Some one who likes to connect with our community. Approx 2-4 hours per month 
  •  Funding Applications: Help secure grants and financial support to grow the project.
  • Admin: The steady hands working away behind the scenes  to keep the project running smoothly
