Napier City Rovers Football Club, Senior Men's Team has the distinction of being Volunteering Hawkes Bay's Volunteers of the Month for September 2023.
They were nominated by Ally Rogers, who shared the following message with us.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the senior men's team who cancelled their practice to come and help with the cyclone devastation in Waiohiki. You were amazing, not just with all the muscle, time and energy (plus your very handy plumbing/gas disconnection skills), but more importantly, you made Lyssa and I feel like we weren't alone with such an overwhelming task. You made us laugh over and over, and even though clearing out a mud-caked life and home was exhausting, your positivity and light-heartedness were infectious.
Even though I lost everything, the thing I think about most was the kindness and generosity of spirit of those who lent a hand. You are absolute legends and absolutely delightful. I will always remember. Aroha Nui, Ally."
