Volunteering Hawkes Bay is unique in connecting, supporting, promoting and strengthening the voluntary sector in our region.  With our very capable administration staff and volunteers in place, after the gift of an interim manager for some months, we are now ready to welcome a permanent appointment to this role to deliver and develop our services into the future.

Our modern workspace in Hastings is the home for our VHB team delivering our online referral services, training workshops, promotional and celebration events and supporting emergency volunteers.  As the Manager, your time will be shared across the office and in the community with the option to work from home on occasion.

We are looking for an individual with the following capabilities to achieve VHB’s mission - Promoting and Supporting Volunteering in Hawke's Bay - through goals and targets as set out in our Strategic and Business plans:

  • Leadership skills that develop and sustain positive trusting working relationships with all stakeholders

  • Evidenced respect for best practice and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of people and enterprises

  • A history of relevant performance achievements with an appreciation of community and the voluntary sector

  • Experience working in a small ‘hands on’ organisation

  • Highly organised, sound time management skills, compliance orientation 

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills – informative, empathetic and passionate about people

  • Effective budget management and grant/submission writing skills to ensure sustainability – accurate, timely, accountable

  • Ideally successful event and training workshop management experience

  • Confident with technology, social media platforms and learning new software and systems as required.

This is salaried role for 30 hours per week Monday to Thursday or Friday (to be agreed); provision of a smart phone and mileage reimbursement for travel relating to work around our region.  You will collaborate with and have the support of a committed Board of Trustees and Volunteering NZ personnel and resources.
